I'm really enjoying the sudden rush of local colour in the dye bed at my allotment. Recent rain has brightened the greens, and all is lush and full of potential. It's the time of year for the brightest yellows of all from the dye pot, so I picked a handful of weld leaves and left them to steep in hot water with a little silk thread. The results were as acid bright as the woad flowers in the picture above.
