I've had a little more studio time than usual recently. At this time of year it's great to be able to walk down the cellar steps after a quick perambulation around the plants in the back yard and be able to work straight away. I keep the studio door open giving me a little more natural light and a few glimpses of greenery from the ferns that grow out of the mortar in the wall (it means I get lots of visits from my girls too, when they are home from school).
In the studio I've been testing mordant paste recipes for some new workshops I'm developing for the Autumn. I used a bumper crop of foraged weld and some very simple print blocks to create the patterns shown above. The very bright yellow is from an alum based paste, the greeny brown from iron.
Have a good week, I'll be back here soon...
